A blog for the physical chemistry course sequence at Cal Poly, particularly CHEM 351, 352, and 353.
I was (attempting) to do number one on the surface tension w/s on your webpage and couldn't get the right answer. The question asked to find the surface tension of benzene at 50 deg C. I tried.. gamma = gamma knot (1 - T/Tc) ^ 11/9 = 28.22 ( 1- 323.2K/ 561.1K) ^ 11/9 = 9.8878How come this isn't right?
I don't believe your gamma_o is correct (this is not normally a tabled value). You should use ratios and eliminate the parameter.
